Our Story
The school’s beginnings are rooted in our School Directress’ passion for teaching young children. A graduate of Family Life and Child Development from the University of the Philippines, Teacher Dulce E. Sagayadan has over 40 years of experience in early childhood education. Prior to Kiddie Lab, she has taught in the Institute for Child Advancement and Kalayaang Pambata.
In the summer of 1990, Kiddie Lab Learning School opened its doors to the Merville community and the rest is history. To date, the school’s structure closely resembles that of a house primarily because of the belief that the preschool environment should evoke the warmth and nurture of a home. This kind of setting is ideal as preschoolers transition from the house to a school with ease.
Kiddie Lab Learning School has graduated over hundreds of young children who have thrived in their respective big schools and professions. Believing that early stimulation is best, the school also pioneered the Toddlers Class, a program for children as young as 2 years old, in the community.
What We Do
WHY WE DO
Vision
To become a leader in early childhood education in the Philippines known for its commitment in transforming young children to be self-propelling and confident individuals with a positive attitude towards school, family, and the society.
Child-centeredness
To provide a child-centered learning environment that will cultivate each young child’s optimal physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
Connection
To establish meaningful connections with each child to bring out the best in each one and celebrate his or her uniqueness and self-expression.
Community
To create partnerships with a supportive community of families deeply committed to the well-being of children.
Coaching / Continuing Professional Development
To contribute to the professional development of early childhood educators by training them in areas of child development, teaching, and assessing.
Mission
Young children enjoy learning about the world around them by using their senses and through direct experience. Hands-on learning happens in active settings which give them opportunities to make choices and decisions, manipulate materials, interact with peers and adults, use language in personally meaningful ways, reflect on ideas and actions, and receive support from caring adults.
Kiddie Lab Learning School uses an ECLECTIC APPROACH to preschool education. It is a balanced approach that synergizes the best elements of progressive and traditional teaching methods. While the school is largely guided by Constructivist theories whereby knowledge is constructed through play, direct experience, and social interaction; the school also recognizes the importance of routines, structure, expectation, and standards in its academic curriculum.
Philosophy
Our Curriculum
An interplay of planned and organized experiences, as well as spontaneous, flexible experiences in a stimulating and nurturing environment enable young children to construct their own knowledge and develop their own skills.
Our early childhood educators provide a variety of developmentally appropriate experiences to address the different areas of the child’s development – physical, emotional, social, and cognitive. To complement these experiences, they also teach subject-matter content integrated in themes of interest to the children to set their learning against a more meaningful context. Ultimately, the goal of these learning experiences is to develop the student as a WHOLE CHILD.
